Pamlico-Tar Riverforce

Who stops pollution from poorly maintained construction sites, illegal filling of wetlands and cutting of riparian trees, pollution from industries, factory farms, and sewage spills from harming the Pamlico-Tar River?

Citizens like you!

If you want to play an active and vital role in protecting the Tar-Pamlico River for future generations, then join the Riverforce volunteers.

Riverforce volunteers:

  • visually monitor the health of our rivers, creeks, wetlands, and estuaries and are trained to document and report violations and pollution problems;
  • track ripairian buffer violations to ensure accountability by the guilty party and that restoration of the buffer occurs;
  • monitors via the air and on the ground industrial animal farm waste application to ensure no waste enters our waterways;
  • act as our voice in their neighborhoods and communities to actively educate the public on environmental and conservation issues;
  • assist PTRF in tasks such as placing paddle trail signs and collecting recycled oyster shells at county pickup locations;
  • organize and participate in PTRF's two annual river cleanups.
